Brick And Lace

Brick & Lace is a Jamaican duo consisting of sisters (which when I first saw i thought were twins, but gradually they changed their image) Nyanda and Nailah Thourborne.

Nyanda and Nailah Thourborne were born in Kingston, Jamaica, to a Jamaican father and an American mother. They have claimed that they always wanted to be singers. "We are a hybrid," says Nailah. "It’s not fabricated at all; it’s who we are." The duo also appeared in many mixtapes before they were eventually signed on Zomba Records.

Brick & Lace started working on their debut album in 2004, naming it Love Is Wicked in early 2005. They worked with many producers, who were impressed by their talent.They released their first single, "Never Never", late 2006.

They performed in Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape Tour on May 24, 2007 in Camden, NJ. They filled in for Lady Sovereign, who didn't show.

They appeared on Obie Trice's 2nd studio album Second Round's On Me on the track Jamaican Girl.

They are also featured on Nicole Scherzinger's single "Puakenikeni" of her album Her Name Is Nicole.
* Their mother came up with the word 'lace', and Nyanda came up with 'brick', forming the origin of the band's name.
* Regarding their name, they say: "The name Brick and Lace derives from the different sounds that can be heard in our music. The brick side represents the gritty edge in our music, which is born in us because we are Jamaicans while the lace side represents our smooth harmony."[4]
* They were the first female Jamaican group to be signed to Jive Records before being dropped from the label two months later.
* The girls describe Akon as their “third member” and even the Jam & Lewis to their Janet.
* They either wrote or co-wrote every track on their album.

Before I became aware of diseases that can take a toll on gramz and grapz I just figured Alzheimer was something more of the TV scene.. I had never read up on it or took it that seriously til One day at a health workshop... Little did I know it was so serious and is affecting a critical number of our aging population. Prior to that i knew No one who Had Alzheimers.

Being one, who now associates with patients and what not I feel heartened for the families who have to go through a day with one of theirs who get Alzheimer's.. WHY? Because there are so many memories and most times, that person cant even make out a face!!

Personally I have gotten the notion of taking loads on loads of pictures to always remember the event... Look back on memories and I have realised thats how some people entertain their loved ones... Media-Take-Out Says Rihanna’s Revealing Dress Upset Family

To whom much is given, much is expected… or maybe too much is expected.

The web and blogs are buzzing with a rumour that Rihanna was asked to leave her cousin’s wedding for dressing immodestly. It reminds us of a story a few years ago when Cher attended a wedding and then had to leave when she became the center of attention. In that Cher story though there was no hint of bad behaviour… it was Cher’s celebrity that took away from the wedding couple’s special day. Cher then made a decision to leave early so the wedding could proceed in peace and with proper dignity but the media over-played it.

We wish that the current Rihanna wedding rumours were simply a case of celebrity, but sadly the photos being published online at the very least show a lack of judgment on the part of Girl Gone Bad.

It was a family wedding in Barbados and no doubt Rihanna’s celebrity was a factor, but here at Barbados Free Press we all agree that she shouldn’t have worn that dress.

October 30, 2007. When MediaTakeOut.com showed you photos of Rihanna attending her cousin Nigel’s wedding in Barbados a few days ago, we thought that the event went off without a hitch. But we couldn’t have been more wrong. Yesterday our inbox was filled with emails from party guests who claim that Rihanna was asked to leave the wedding early.

The trouble began almost as soon as Rihanna arrived. Tells one of the more than a half dozen partygoers who wrote in to MediaTakeOut.com, “I was shocked when I saw what Rihanna was wearing. Every time she moved, her [breasts] looked like they were ready to come loose.” The tipster added, “[The bride comes from] a very Christian family. [Rihanna] should have known better than to show up wearing such scandalous attire.”

And there’s more. According to a number of eyewitnesses, Rihanna refused to eat the food offered to other guests. An insider explained to MediaTakeOut.com, “She brought her own food and wouldn’t touch anything else … Our food must not be good enough for a big star like her.”

At one point in the evening, the bride’s family decided that they’d had enough. As one family friend puts it, “Rihanna was taking away from the [bride and groom's] day so we thought it was best to ask her to leave. She understood and agreed”

But before leaving, one guest claims that Rihanna gave the family a piece of her mind. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, “She started arguing with [her aunt and her mother] … Even though they were in the back, you could hear Rihanna yelling at her mother.” The insider added, “Her mother is a very easygoing woman, so she just stayed quiet and waited for Rihanna to calm down …. If she were my daughter, someone would have had to call the police.”

First of all.. Let me state that this entry wasnt written all by me.. With the help of friends and cousins.. we covered it up with several research… Most girls try to get over their ex by talking trash about them or their new girlfriend or by blaming the whole break up where the blame wasnt deserved..
All this does is lead to more drama and your ex hating you more whilst you still yearn for him..

1.Take interest in other boys. He wont be the only one! Look for a new one that made you feel like your Ex made you feel.

2.Hang out with friends. Don’t sit at home and mourn! Call friends or go hang out with them. It will show him that your strong and it’ll get your mind off him!

3.Enlist the help of others. Turn to a trustworthy friend that knows how to keep a secret. Letting your feelings out to someone gets rid of extra stress and emotion. This person can make you feel better BUT.. yes there is a big but.. Dont make this situation ALL ABOUT U and a way to seek attention from others.. U might jus be deviated from the whole point of gettin over him and at the end of it all You would still be wanting him badly..

4.Think of some negatives in your relationship. See what went wrong. Focus on the good, but also remember why you might have broken up. You may see that your guy/girl may not have been that great or that he/she may not have been totally interested in you.. If he/she goes for another this means that He/she referred to you as 2nd best.. We wouldnt want that occuring would we?

5.Clear everything out of your life that reminds you of him. Pictures, songs, clothing articles, other personal items - everything must go! (( thats for some people who are deeply attached.. this works for the physically attached ppl ))

6.Commit completely to getting over him. If you allow yourself to have doubts, or be weak, it will drag on and on. Repeat over and over to yourself - I don’t need him and be sure what u actually repeat you FEEL.. telling is one and believing is another..

7.Get out and meet people. If possible, try to meet another special somene. Having a new man in your life is the best way to forget about someone. Not only will they keep you busy, they’ll put in your mind all the good things your ex never did, or the bad things your ex did but your new boyfriend doesn’t. This is not a revound stage… It serves as a way of reinventing yourself.. or simply changing the way you always did stuff.. there comes a time where an UPGRADE is needed.. on the contrary most times you use a guy to literally make your ex jealous.. NOW THATS REBOUNDING in a sense.. because you dont want to get over him.. U simply want him back!!! 7.Hang out with your girlfriends as much as possible. They’ll help you get through it, listen to you rant, keep your mind off things, and eat ice cream with you. Plus, you’ll remember how much you like them all, and how fun they are.

8. Write 20 or more of your good qualities and keep reading them over and over, adding as you think of some. It’s important to remember that you are a beautiful, amazing person and you will find love again. Due to the breakup U mightve been insecure u can use this time to reassure yourself…

9. Let time pass. The more it goes, the easier it will get. Time DOES heal all. Just remember…there’s a reason why he’s out of your life! Be free!

10. Concentrate on his weaknesses, both physical and personal. If he had ugly hairy hands, imagine them daily and think about how gross they were. If he was selfish, think about it often, saying things to yourself like “Man, *so and so* was so completely selfish…what a jerk. I”m so glad I don’t have to put up with his egoistic, immature behavior anymore.” You will feel like you dated a total loser.

11. REMEMBER : Everyone has been through this & everyone gets through it. You might think you’re alone, and it’s too hard, but it will get easier and you will be happier.

12. While anger is a natural and healthy part of the process, don’t allow it to consume you, and be a new way of obsessing over your ex. You don’t want to stay bitter forever. be optimistic and consider yourself learning from previous mistakes.. This breakup can even be used to better your future much better relationship!!

13. Your girlfriends will be willing to hear all about it at first, but no one likes to hear someone complain forever. After a few days, they’ll be ready to move on, even if you aren’t, and you have to be considerate. Don’t take this personally!

14. Think positively after a breakup. Maybe this guy was just not for you long term. He may have done you a favor by letting you go. Remember, it was probably not your fault.

15. Practice detachment. Never show your desperation and craving no matter how bad you want him back. This will only make your situation worse. Be a carefree and independent person. Cultivate the hobbies and attitude. Getting over someone may not be easy.. but its all in your mentality.. the first stage is by Accepting the relationship and then acknowledging that he/she isnt going to be back into your life… he/she may even be happy somewhere else…!!

My all-time favourite ever.. It was introduced to me as a birthday gift from my mom in 2oo5 (i believe)… The bottle is the cutest ever with those crystals embedded in it. I usually put on the light in my room at nights (nota bien- my room is pink too hehe) and swirl the bottle… It looks like some disco!!

The scent is one of the best out there!! Its really girly and long lasting… Stays on me for the whole day, plus gets on anything I rub on… [ a certain someones shirt =) ]…

Ralph Lauren Polo Blue

I know its a Men’ Cologne But i go crazy everytime I smell a dude wearing this… It simply has one of the best scents ever and it is quite alluring… Last scenario I remembered: My cousin and I followed some dudes wearing this scent for a whole night… well almost (dont think we were that lame)… Point of it all- I admire a guy who wears Ralph Lauren Polo Blue… its not about the brand.. Its about the scent…

Perry Ellis 360

I got my mom The Perry Ellis 360 series for Mother’s Day… I was previously introduced to this perfume by Perry Ellis by her… being that it was her favourite and strangely I had developed an addiction to stealing her perfumes… This was my favourite steal.. I would rather call it a borrow… [lol]. Nonetheless This perfume had become her favourite and the scent reminded me of a gift My once bestfriend gave me… It was more of a floral gift.. Had the best floral scent ever and the 360 reminded me so much of it… Because I had always thought, why dont they make some perfume in that scent???

I got My Mom a set of 360… Different editions: The Gold, White, Blue and Red… They all have similar scents but you could differ in all of them… Its one of the best out there… I swear!!

My friends and I basically had nothing to do one day… No, Actually we were done doing everything we had to do… So we went “shopping”…
I love Dior products so this was the first perfume I got lured to!! Low and Behold it had one of the best scents ever…
It was the scent, pure and simple, that lured me: the strength of the floral without the lurid sweetness of the petals and its magnificent undertone, only darkening with time, that gives it both its independence and rebelliousness, strength and spontaneity..

I would totally recommend this for alot of women… It is one of the cutest bottles also!!

First of all I have made it known that I adore Britney Spears Fantasy, But this one comes as a shocker to me…
I never took the time to try out Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy because I always thought it had some musky smell for a night out event!!! Wow was I proved wrong… We were all shocked when we tried it… It has that fruity smell, not suited for daytime… But that smell is one that can totally make your mark and get you noticed.. Its one like no other.. I cant really explain right now because i was speechless when I smelt it (remember my fetish)

For the love of it all.. I ADORE DIOR… I was out one day (as usual) and I came across Pure Poison. I believe there is more in the Poison line- like Poison and Midnight Poison… Granted the name Might be a turn off.. if you have watched those fairy tales where some liquid can poison you… hmmm tsk tsk tsk…

But I believe poison depicts how alluring that scent is.. It can attract practically anyone… It sort of drives you crazy and in Awe… another of my underestimated scents.. Its also a Must try… I dont own this one AS YET!!… I am looking into that for my 18th Birthday =)…
